“PACKAGING AND LABELING"
GRANT SCHEME

The Programme “Partnership for the Future (PFF)” funded by the European Union and managed by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is pleased to announce the first call for proposals for its “Packaging and Labeling” Grant Scheme. The Grant scheme is meant to assist Turkish-Cypriot Micro, Small and Medium-Sized enterprises (MSMEs) and Organizations in complying with European Union (EU) legislation on the packaging and labeling of foodstuffs, beverage and household products.

The Packaging and Labeling Grant Scheme will support Turkish-Cypriot companies to develop and update the packaging and labeling of their products in line with EU legislation including:

Directive 2000/13 on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to the labeling, presentation and advertising of foodstuffs.
Directive 94/54 concerning the compulsory indication on the labeling of certain foodstuffs.
Directive 2003/424 on nutrition and health claims made on foods.
Directive 97/4 general guidelines on implementing the principles of Quantitative Ingredients Declaration.

Applications from women and young entrepreneurs are particularly encouraged. Deadline for the submission of the applications is 06 July 2007 – 5 pm.
In order to assist potential applicants, two informative seminars on the Grant scheme will be organized.

The seminars will aim at explaining:

• Grant scheme objectives
• Grant scheme contents
• Eligibility criteria
• How the grants operate
• How to fill the application forms

The seminars will be open to public and will take place on 19 June 2007 at the following places:

• 19 June: 10.30 – 12.30 Nicosia, Chamber of Commerce
• 19 June: 15.30 – 17.00 Famagusta, Palm Beach Hotel.

Registrations are not necessary.
