Revitalisation of Old Nicosia

Within the framework of the EU-funded project for the Rehabilitation of Old Nicosia, UNDP-PFF has been implementing several projects aiming at supporting the revitalisation of the Walled City of Nicosia and the conservation of its architectural and cultural heritage, as well as at drawing the attention of Nicosia’s residents to conservation issues and to the importance of a shared heritage.

The restoration and rehabilitation works have been articulated in phases and focused in the main areas of Nicosia: Omeriye, Selimiye, Samanbahce and Phaneromeni. A new phase entailing new restoration works have been launched in 2009 and will be completed in December 2012.
